The month of September is National Preparedness Month, sponsored by FEMA and Ready.gov.  This year's theme is "Be Prepared, Not Scared", which seems quite appropriate, given the fact that planning and knowing what to do in an emergency is our best defense against the unexpected. 

"This year is projected to have a 40 percent chance of being a near-normal season and a 30 percent chance of being above normal", 
according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center’s 2019 hurricane season forecast.
