Emergency and Disaster Preparedness is vital to businesses, families, communities and the environment.

The month of September is National Preparedness Month, sponsored by FEMA and Ready.gov.  This year's theme is "Be Prepared, Not Scared", which seems quite appropriate, given the fact that planning and knowing what to do in an emergency is our best defense against the unexpected.

"This year is projected to have a 40 percent chance of being a near-normal season and a 30 percent chance of being above normal",
according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center’s 2019 hurricane season forecast

Being Prepared Can Save Your Life

Those who have been affected by a natural disaster have endured hardships that sometimes have lasting consequences.  However, proper planning can be the difference between inconvenience and major loss of property, environmental disaster and even loss of life.

Being prepared for the worst and hoping for the best can provide a peace of mind and confidence in knowing that you are armed with a plan and have the tools and resources you need to stay safe.

Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail

"Failing to plan is planning to fail" is especially true for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness planning.

For businesses, planning is crucial to control the operational and financial impacts of business interruptions.  Business Continuity Planning is one such process for creating a system of management for business interruption from prevention, preparedness and recovery.
